Haute Green

Growing enthusiasm for green design has spawned a powerfully stylish crop of earth-friendly furnishings. Armed with eco conscious manufacturing processes that minimize waste and environmental impact, groups of discerning designers are discovering ways to increase affordability, while protecting the earth.

Three ways that you can become "green"

1.       Use sustainable/renewable products Sustainable is linked to how a material, especially wood, is harvested. Therefore, we as consumers cannot use more of a product than the earth has the capacity of providing it to us. So many "green" activists choose renewable resources that can be replenished quickly and easily. Bamboo is the most popular renewable material. It requires no replanting or fertilizing and its growth cycle is only 3-5 years compared to a standard 25 mature
years for a tree.

2.       Eliminate toxins as environmental causes for health problems are investigated more thoroughly, researchers have called increasing attention to the potentially dangerous chemicals we encounter in our homes on a daily basis. Present in everything from paint to pillows, citizens are prompted to ask- Are they necessary? Green designers eliminate pesticides toxic chemicals found in dyes, finishes, and adhesives and choose non-toxic alternatives.

3.       Recycle Americans produce millions of tons of waste each year. Leftover scraps from metal textiles and woodworking industries

Provides much of what green manufacturers need to construct their furniture, lighting, and accessories without the environmental Impact that ensues when obtaining new materials.
