All Washed Up
Simple, fluid, and very organic, coastal kitsch is making a splash this season. Always a favorite, marine motifs are ideal for an ocean, bay, or lake home. Often coined as seaside, waterside, or Nautical chic, this old yet new again kitsch is swimming
up in home decor lines everywhere. Some popular shoreline themes you'll see bobbing around are anchors, pelicans, lanturns, seaglass and the ever popular light house. In the past freshwater lake homes or saltwater sea homes were deemed "appropriate" for such themes. However ocean hues and similar motifs are now being used in small subtle ways even if your homes kiddy pool is far from ocean soaked beaches. Decorative accents that anyone can try are popping up in subtle everyday items such as capiz shell trays, embroidered pillows with starfish, or using seashells at the bottom of a vase to display flowers. Classic color combos such as navy and white with splashes of red can also be a great way to define some nautical sophistication.
So if your craving sun soaked beaches or dreaming of collecting seashells by the sea shore adorn your home with some of these popular items and you'll make a splash in this new trend, and you wont break the bank.
