The New Tradition

In recent years traditional styling has dominated much of the home decor market, but contemporary design has been steadily stealing and increasing number of "traditional" consumers. So why the sudden increase or shift in taste? Homeowners are craving simplicity. Americans are overworked, over scheduled and more sleep deprived than ever. Multitasking is now a fact of modern life. Because of this homeowners are drawn to merchandise that answers more than one need and fills more than one purpose. This is the new premiere "lifestyles" merchandise. Clean, simple, multifunctional and all with high style. Gone are the days of uber clutter.

Today’s trends are focused on soothing landscapes of brown neutrals with unexpected color combinations. Earth tone hues mixed with eco friendly "green" materials like corks, and bamboo mixed with pops of colors are the new traditions of style. Guided by a growing interest in our environment green design is cultivating organic, nature inspired motifs that complements our need for this new lifestyle. Fashion is of course paramount when speaking design, but homeowners are no longer forced to choose utility over ornament. It’s no contest. In today’s modern home mixing the two not only works, but it works with stunning punctuation and a high design statement; thus the evolution of the new traditional.
