Urban Nashville Is The Place To Be
If you like living in an urban setting, downtown Nashville is for you!
In 2003 a report on the Downtown Living Initiative was released which outlined steps to stimulate and support the downtown housing market for attracting residents to Nashville’s urban center. A part of this Initiative called for a greater number of housing options, neighborhood-style services, and stressed the need to emphasize the many amenities that awaited prospective residents, such as easy access to work, recreation, cultural events, retail and restaurants.
Nashville is adamant about keeping its downtown areas safe and clean for visitors, employees, and residents. A team of Ambassadors has been established by the Nashville Downtown Partnership to oversee the objectives of that goal. Every day, these Ambassadors are charged with the responsibilities and details of creating an attractive environment.
Services provided by these Ambassadors are funded by a special assessment on the properties that lie within the Central Business Improvement District. As a result of their efforts, the Ambassadors not only maintain a welcoming appearance, but they also elevate the downtown area’s sense of security. Some of the services these Ambassadors handle include pressure washing the sidewalks, keeping surfaces free from graffiti, handbills, trash and litter, and weed control.
Dressed in bright yellow shirts with the partnership logo, it’s easy to spot one of these Ambassadors who are always ready to give directions and information about the downtown attractions.
Downtown Nashville Attractions
Speaking of attractions, there are plenty of things to do in the downtown area of Nashville. In fact, Nashville is one of the top regional choices for live music, fine dining, sports events, and various other forms of entertainment. The downtown area of Nashville draws over 1.5 million people each year for events such as the Tennessee Titan’s and Nashville Predators’ home games, the Music City Bowl, Country Music Marathon, the CMA Music Festival and the spectacular Fourth of July celebrations.
Downtown Nashville also offers other attractions such as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Lower Broadway entertainment district, art galleries, the public library, the Tennessee State Capital and many historic venues. And there are plenty of spots to enjoy night life as well as shopping opportunities.
