Brad Jacob designed and built this home for himself and his family. While living in Horseshoe Bend, Brad formed a Gourmet Club that met regularly at his home. At times, Brad would become a little homesick for his beloved Gulf Coast inspired cuisine. He would then make good use of the built-in “cooking pit” in the kitchen using his gas cooker for Crawfish & Shrimp Boils, Deep-Fried Turkey, or perhaps a large pot of Gumbo. This area was thoughtfully designed to include a gas jet, drain and faucet for easy clean-up as well as a super vented exhaust hood. He claims he has occasionally used the pit to also clean up dirty dogs and children. This kitchen has truly been the heart of this home.
A frequent guest to his Gourmet Club parties was George Lindsey – also known as “Goober” in the Andy Griffith of Mayberry television show. Downstairs you will find a tribute to his friend in one of the tandem garages (which is heated and cooled and was used to store antique cars!).
